CCTV POLICY

Statement of Intent
It is our intention to ensure that we can meet the needs of all the children within our nursery. The use of CCTV within the setting enables us to meet the needs of all the children by observing the children on a weekly basis to ensure they are gaining the most from their learning environment.
The CCTV may be viewed by parents at the discretion of the manager/ director. However, CCTV is not an Ofsted requirement. Therefore, we are under no legal obligation to show parents/carers the CCTV.

l We ensure that we respect the privacy (Data protection Act 1998) and Human Rights Act 1998) of everyone recorded by the CCTV
l We ensure that the sole purpose of the CCTV is to monitor the welfare, development and progress of the staff and children. We use CCTV for development purposes only.

Methods:
​
l To ensure that the CCTV records Monday-Friday during the opening hours from 7.00 AM till 7.00 PM. The CCTV records on a seven-day cycle, the hours recorded outside of working hours is for security purposes.
l To ensure that CCTV is watched by the nursery staff with the authorisation of management
l To ensure that the CCTV is not in breach of any person’s confidentiality of privacy.
The CCTV may be watched under the supervision of the director. Staff and students have no authorisation to rewind or watch the CCTV unless with the management or director.
