At Little Crickets, the children have been really good at maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene. It has been so lovely to see the children washing their hands whilst singing various songs that they have learnt. The children have been making good use of their new cleaning stations and washing their hands frequently in their indoor and outdoor environment.

A BIG Warm Welcome Back to our Little Cricket’s Children!

We are absolutely delighted to be able to open our doors and welcome some of our children back into the day care. We hope that we can do the same for all our other children really soon too! Just a reminder that we will notify our parents when we have been advised by the Government when all other children can return. We are pleased to say that our re-opening has got off to a really positive and successful start. The support from parents and the excitement from all our children returning has been phenomenal! It is fantastic that the children are so happy to be back at the day care. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents for such wonderful feedback and support during these difficult times. It has been lovely to see all the wonderful home learning and photographs over the last couple of months. All our parents have done an amazing job at keeping our Little Cricketers busy and entertained from home! We will continue to email across home-learning and delicious recipes as not all of our children are able to return to the day care as yet.

For funded children, the Christmas term
is approaching (Monday 9th December-Monday 6th January 2020). If your child receives the
15hr funding from Haringey Council, and you are using your full allowance each week then during this holiday period the provision will not cover attendance. If you wish your child to attend Little Crickets throughout this period, please do get in touch so we can make arrangements. If not, we will presume you will not be attending. We look forward to seeing everyone back in 2020! We would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year!

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents that were able to make it to the parents evening on Thursday 28 th November. It was brilliant turnout so thank you all for your involvement. We have received such great feedback based on the new way we delivered the parent consultations. As a result of this, we will continue to organise parents evening in a more relaxed environment moving away from time slots and allowing a more flexible evening. If you missed parents evening, you are more than welcome to organise a meeting with the keyworker to discuss your child’s development and next steps whenever you are next available. We will notify all parents by Baby Day’s and through the monthly newsletter with the date for the next parents evening closer to the time.

Christmas Dinner:

On Wednesday 11 th December the children will have Christmas Dinner for Lunch with all the trimmings to celebrate the Festive season. This includes turkey, vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, parsnips, potatoes and gravy!

Christmas Party Workshop!

On Thursday 19 th December 2019, each room will be holding a Christmas Party Workshop filled with exciting party games and creative activities for the parents and children to take part in! The workshop will run from 16.00pm until 17.00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the Christmas Workshop. If your child is not booked in for a session for that day but would like to attend then they must be accompanied to the Christmas Workshop with their parent/ career due to our ratios. To make it extra special, we would love it if children can wear a special outfit or Christmas jumper. We also kindly ask if parents could bring in one dish, snack or drink which the children can eat together during their Christmas workshop. If you are able to bring in a home-made dish, can it please be clearly labelled with all of the ingredients used for children who suffer with allergies.

A big thank you to all of the parents and carers who gave lovely feedback to our inspector during the Ofsted Inspection. We felt that the day went very well and we are delighted with the result that we got! The Ofsted report will be made public soon and once it is we can’t wait to share it with you and hope that you are as happy with the results as we are. Thank you again for all of your continued support.

The recent Halloween parent stay and place sessions across the nursery were a big success so thank you to all who attended! Everybody involved had a wonderful time and the children enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities such as pumpkin painting, exploring inside of a pumpkin, making spiders using play-dough and dancing to Halloween inspired music!

We would like to use this opportunity to inform you that we will sadly be saying farewell to Alisha, who is moving on to a new opportunity; her last day is Friday 22 nd November. Please find the time to say goodbye and wish her well. We also welcome a new member of staff; Olajumoke joined us on Monday 11th November as the new Room Leader for the Crickets Room. She joins us with a Masters Qualification in Children and Young People and a wide range of experience. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome.

Just a reminder that Parents Evening is taking place on Thursday 28 th November from 6pm-7pm. All of the rooms will be set up with different activities for you to see and you will have the opportunity to speak to your child’s key worker and explore their Learning Journal and scrap book. If your child is currently attending an additional setting to ours, please let a member of management know so we are able to liaise with them to best support your child’s development. We are also in the process of trying to reduce the amount of plastic toys and resources in the day care in favour of natural items, if you have anything you feel would be a great resource for us please do bring them in and speak to a member of the team. We are also looking for more junk modelling resources and spare clothes, so again please do bring anything you have spare. Thank you to all of the parents who have bought in donations already, it is very much appreciated!

Planning – Due to the introduction of the new Ofsted Framework, we have looked at our planning system and changed the method, which now centres on the children as individuals and encourages practitioners to spark awe and wonder into every activity they do. We have seen a great difference and the children are loving the activities that are taking place! Have a look around this week at our wonderful Gruffalo activities. Assessment – We have also introduced a new development tracking sheet in line with the updated Framework, which will be completed by your child’s key worker every half term. The new tracking focuses on the children’s interests, what they can already using the EYFS curriculum, their next steps and activity plans to support them. Please speak to a member of the team who will be happy to go through the new tracking with you, you will also have the chance to explore it and our upcoming parents evening.
