A Stimulating Learning Environment
The Toddlers Room (Bumblebees) is a large and engaging space designed for children to learn through play, exploration, and social interaction while forming strong friendships and developing independence.
Hygiene and Sleep
The room supports personal care and independence through:
-
Changing tables
-
Small toilets and potties for toilet training
-
Two sinks for hand washing and hygiene development
After lunch or when needed, children sleep on mats with blankets in the adjoining sleep room under staff supervision.
Outdoor Play
Toddlers have direct access to our huge playground, allowing them to enjoy outdoor play safely and easily throughout the day. Children go outside at least twice daily, with regular walks around the grounds to explore and stay active.
Our spacious outdoor area includes a large playground and cricket field, giving toddlers plenty of room to run, play, and develop their physical skills. During the summer, we encourage free-flow access to the outdoor environment, supporting independence, confidence, and a love of outdoor learning.
Mealtimes and Independence
Mealtimes take place in the café area of the Bumblebees room with small tables and chairs.
Children are encouraged to:

These include both the Prime and Specific areas of learning, supporting balanced and structured development through play and exploration.
Preparing Children for School
Our Pre-School room supports children in developing independence, confidence, and school readiness. Our learning environment is designed to help children grow socially, emotionally, and academically while preparing them for the transition to primary school.

The Early Years Foundation Stage
At Little Crickets Daycare, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which provides a framework for children’s learning and development across seven key areas. Our curriculum supports children’s growth through play-based, child-led, and adult-guided experiences that help them develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
