Room Structures
Little Crickets Ltd is run on the ground floor of a cricket club and the surrounding grounds.
The rooms used for the nursery are fully convertible with your child’s safety and comfort in mind.
Ants Room: 3 months – 16/18 months

The Ants Room cares for up to 15 babies, with a staff-to-child ratio of 1:3, ensuring close attention and high-quality care for each child.

Babies have access to a separate sleep room with comfortable cots, allowing them to rest peacefully in a calm and secure environment.

A rich variety of sensory and tactile experiences is provided daily, including activities such as flour play, rice play, and gloop. Babies also enjoy sensory stimulation through lights, wind chimes, and other calming or engaging resources designed to support their development and sensory awareness. A wide range of age-appropriate toys is available to encourage exploration and learning.

Weaning is supported in line with parents’ guidance, starting with fresh puréed fruit and vegetables and gradually introducing carbohydrates and proteins. Parents provide formula milk, nappies, and wipes for their child’s individual needs.

Mealtimes take place in the playroom at small round tables, allowing babies to face one another and begin developing early social interaction skills. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day as required.

With parental permission, babies are taken on walks around the nursery grounds in buggies, providing opportunities to experience the outdoor environment.

Staff in the Ants Room place strong emphasis on Personal, Social and Emotional Development, creating a warm, home-from-home atmosphere where babies feel secure, happy, and supported. A key person approach is central to practice, helping to build strong bonds between staff, children, and parents, supporting each child’s individual needs and wellbeing.
Bumblebees Room: 16/18 months - 36 months

The Bumblebees Room accommodates a maximum of 35 children, with staff-to-child ratios of 1:3 for children under 2 years and 1:5 for children over 2 years.

Children have opportunities to rest and sleep comfortably on cots or mats, depending on their individual needs.
A wide range of age-appropriate toys and resources are available, supporting exploration and learning through play. Children take part in daily adult-led activities such as painting, sticking, cooking, flour play, rice play, and gloop, encouraging creativity and hands-on learning.

With parental permission, children are taken on regular outdoor walks using buggies and reins. Outdoor experiences are an important part of the day, with children going outside at least once, and often twice, daily.

Mealtimes take place in the playroom at small round tables, encouraging children to sit together, develop social skills, and communicate with their peers. Children are also supported and encouraged to brush their teeth after meals. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day as needed.

Staff in the Bumblebees Room plan activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a strong focus on the three Prime Areas of Learning:
Dragonflies Room: 3 years – 5 years

The maximum number in this room is 27, with a ratio maximum of 1:8.
The pre-school children benefit from their own cloak area, where they can hang their belongings, use the toilets, and wash their hands.

Mealtimes are taken in the playroom, with small chairs around small round tables, where the pre-school children are encouraged to serve themselves, take their plate, and scrape it when they are finished. They have access to drinking water throughout the day, as and when they require it.

Pre-school children can access a huge range of activities and toys which are laid out in the seven development areas; these are both the Prime and Specific areas of learning taken from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which are:
